Sheppard caps Wild West Shootout with top-10
The 20th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout proved to be a roller coaster for Brandon Sheppard, as the team continued to battle adversity throughout the week.
Sheppard opened the four-race stretch on a strong note Wednesday, recording his best finish of the miniseries by advancing four positions in the 30-lap feature to finish sixth.
A flat tire in Friday’s main event relegated him to a 14th-place result, and mechanical issues in Saturday’s program brought an early end to his night on lap seven.
Despite the setbacks, Sheppard closed out the Wild West Shootout on a positive note Sunday, finishing 10th in the $25,000-to-win finale.
