Sheppard finishes second in Road to the Dome at Coles County

Following the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) doubleheader in the Rocket1 Racing entry, Brandon Sheppard returned to action in his own No. B5 Late Model on Sunday for the Road to the Dome event at Coles County Speedway’s eighth-mile oval.

Sheppard backed up a heat race victory with a strong showing in the main program, finishing second in the six-lap dash before claiming runner-up honors in the $10,000-to-win feature. He applied heavy pressure to pole-sitter Mike Spatola throughout the 40-lap main event but ultimately crossed the line in second.
