Trio of MARS podiums at LaSalle Speedway
Brandon Sheppard returned to competition in his family-owned No. B5 Late Model over the weekend as LaSalle Speedway hosted the MARS Late Model Championship Series for a two-day showcase.
Friday’s 'Twisted Twin 25' was highlighted by a pair of preliminary features, and Sheppard made forward progress in both. He charged from eighth-to-third in the first round, then gained four more positions in the second feature to notch another third-place finish.
On Saturday, Sheppard secured a runner-up finish in his heat race to earn a spot in the $25,000-to-win Illinois Valley Showdown. He capped the weekend with a strong showing in the 75-lap finale, driving to a third-place finish behind winner Bobby Pierce and runner-up Ryan Unzicker.
