Sheppard Storms to Fourth in Melvin L. Joseph Memorial

SHINNSTON, W.Va. (04/28/25) – Brandon Sheppard’s reunion tour with Rocket1 Racing continues to build momentum as the 2025 season unfolds.

Fresh off an Illini 100 victory in his previous outing with the team, Sheppard added a pair of solid finishes over the weekend, driving to fourth at Georgetown Speedway on Friday and finishing fifth on Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway behind the wheel of the Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Ace Metal Works / Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.

“We’re definitely starting to turn the corner,” Sheppard said. “I’m disappointed with how things ended tonight at Port Royal, but overall, we’re happy with our runs on Friday and Saturday. We qualified well the past two nights, so now it’s about building off that and carrying the momentum into this weekend. I can’t thank my team enough for always working their tails off.”

Sheppard and the Rocket1 Racing team launched their three-race eastern swing on Friday afternoon at Georgetown (Del.) Speedway with the third annual Melvin L. Joseph Memorial.

With the Delaware oval drawing 28 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series entries on Friday, Sheppard edged his way into the opener with the final transfer spot in his heat. Pinned on the seventh row for the A-Main, Brandon advanced forward 10 positions to register a fourth-place finish.

At Hagerstown (MD) Speedway on Saturday for the Conococheague 50, Brandon timed in second-fastest in his group before picking up a heat race victory. With a $25,000 top prize up for grabs in the feature, Sheppard steered to a fifth-place finish in the 50-lapper, chasing Ricky Thornton Jr., Garrett Alberson, Daulton Wilson, and Gregg Satterlee to the checkers.

Sheppard’s weekend came to an early end on Sunday at Port Royal (PA) Speedway, where heavy front-end damage forced the Rocket1 Racing No. 1 to retire from the feature on lap 12.

Rocket1 Racing now turns its attention to the upcoming weekend as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series resumes action in Indiana and Kentucky. The series will make its debut at Circle City Raceway on Friday, with competitors vying for a $15,000 winner’s share. On Saturday, the tour heads to Florence Speedway for the annual $25,000-to-win Ralph Latham Memorial.
