Podium finish in Nippy 50 opener at Maquoketa Speedway
Brandon Sheppard returned to the driver’s seat of his Valvoline No. B5 Late Model over the weekend as the Nippy 50 took place at Maquoketa (IA) Speedway.
Against 44 MARS Late Model Championship Series entries, Sheppard followed up a heat race win with a third-place finish in Friday’s 40-lap opener. He joined race-winner Bobby Pierce and Ricky Thornton Jr. on the podium.
On Saturday, Brandon outran Shannon Babb in his heat race to secure the eight-lap victory. Receiving the pole for the $15,000-to-win Nippy 50 finale via the redraw, Sheppard settled with a sixth-place finish at the close of the 50-lap affair.
